Desktop-class coding, from your iPad.
MacnCheese is an AI-powered developer workspace that runs in your browser and drives a real runtime on your Mac or a cloud box. Real shells, Python, Node, git, build tools and localhost preview — paired over a secure tunnel, no App Store required.
A real workstation, in a browser tab
Everything you need for the coding loop — without pretending to be a full desktop.
Real shells & toolchains
Live PTYs running your actual shell — Python, Node, git, compilers and CLIs. Not a sandbox, not a simulation.
Localhost preview
Spin up your dev server on the host and reach it through the tunnel — see your app render exactly as it would locally.
Pair by QR or link
Run the host, scan the QR with your Camera or open the deep link — the workspace connects and streams I/O both ways.
Installable PWA
Add to Home Screen for a standalone, full-screen app. No App Store review, no native binary — it is just the web, refined.
Reconnecting & reload-safe
Heartbeats keep the link alive; drops reconnect with backoff and resend scrollback. Reload the tab and you are right back in.
Bring your own runtime
Your code, your machine. Point it at your Mac or a cloud box — the runtime stays yours and never leaves your control.
From zero to coding in three steps
No accounts, no app review, no streaming your screen — just a tunnel and a tab.
- 01
Run the runtime host
Start soa-web on your Mac or a cloud box. It raises a Cloudflare tunnel and shows a pairing token and QR code.
- 02
Scan the QR or open the link
On your iPad, point the Camera at the QR — or open the deep link. The workspace connects over wss:// and loads your tabs.
- 03
Add to Home Screen
Install it as a standalone PWA and you are coding — real terminals, real tools, full screen, instantly reconnecting.
Honest about what it is
We are deliberate about the positioning, so you know exactly what you are getting.
What it is
- A portable dev workstation — real shells, tools and localhost
- ~90% of the coding workflow, from anywhere
- Yours: your runtime, your machine, your code
What it isn't
- macOS-on-iPad or a full desktop GUI
- Screen-streaming or remote desktop
- A replacement for your Mac — it is the front-end to it
Install it on your iPad
Open this page in Safari, tap the Share button, then choose Add to Home Screen. It launches full-screen like a native app — no App Store needed.
